The Bell
The bell for St. Jude was struck by the Henry Stuckstede Bell Foundry of St. Louis, Missouri. The Stuckstede Bell Foundry operated from 1855 to 1962. Our bell is inscribed with "Santa Maria Ora Pro Nobis" which means that this was considered a mid-sized bell. This translates to "Saint Mary, pray for us" and appears on all mid-sized bells produced by the Stuckstede Foundry, many of which made their way to Catholic parishes across the country. Our bell was struck in 1911. It is currently unknown whether our bell was purchased from the Stuckstede Foundry directly or whether it was purchased from another parish at a later date, though our research continues.
