When God opens a door…
Doors seem to be the word of the day around here! The doors have come in that will be installed to allow parishioners to enter the main body of the church from the entryway. They’re not stained or installed yet but they have been delivered and it’s exciting to see them ready to go up.
And speaking of doors…we have the new side door! It also has not been stained but it has been installed. And then promptly covered with plastic to keep it from being hit with ceiling stain, drywall dust, and more.
We had to get creative in a couple of places and one of those was the old chimney cutouts in the ceiling. The church was originally heated with wood and there were two areas in the ceiling that had clearly been cut out for the chimneys to go through. Since that’s no longer an issue, the contractor repaired them with wood from the bell tower and the painter stenciled the same rosette on them that we see in the corners.
The subcontractors have been hard at work, too. The furnace is installed and the electric is all being finished.
The painter created this stencil to allow him to add the rosettes to the ceiling patches and touch up any spots on the stenciling that needed a little attention.
There’s a lot of activity happening in here each day but it’s all coming together to create something incredible to shelter and sustain our parish family for the next century and more.
